About the Institute
A Blueprint for Thought, Dialogue, and Action
FANKH Institute is envisioned as a space where people can wrestle with meaning and engage the global conundrums of our era. It brings philosophical inquiry into conversation with history, culture, politics, spirituality, imagination, and the living world.
At the center of FANKH is a conciliatory, inclusive, and maatic worldview—one concerned with equity, human dignity, cooperative freedom, and a more humane relationship with the Earth and one another.
Rather than treating knowledge as something passive, FANKH approaches thought as a blueprint for action. It invites scholars, students, communities, and fellow human beings to question inherited paradigms and imagine more life-centered possibilities.

Reawakening Our Relationship with Humanity and the Living World
FANKH confronts the systems of thought that have reduced people, cultures, animals, plants, minerals, and the natural world to commodities. Its mission is to recover the question of our humaneness and to cultivate forms of knowledge that are ethical, liberative, conciliatory, and alive.
In the age of artificial intelligence, FANKH calls mindful thinkers to continuously examine the relationship between technology, imagination, responsibility, power, and life.
Knowledge should not merely describe the world. It should help restore our relationship with life.

François Kodena is an Afrikan-Cameroonian geo-ethical-political philosopher and Philosophy Professor at Lincoln University in Pennsylvania. His work examines social and intersectional questions through agential, liberative, and conciliatory perspectives.
His scholarship explores Afrosofian knowledge, Pan-Afrikan thought, human dignity, cultural consciousness, cooperative freedom, and humanity’s ethical relationship with the living world.

Meet François Kodena
Philosophy Professor and Creator of Afrosofian Theory
François Kodena is a Philosophy Professor at Lincoln University in Pennsylvania and the creator of the theory of Afrosofian thought. He is an Afrikan-Cameroonian geo-ethical-political philosopher whose work examines intersectional theories and social problems from agential, liberative, and conciliatory perspectives.
His published work includes “Afrosofian Knowledge and Cheikh Anta Diop: Geo-ethical and Political Implications,” with a foreword by Molefi Kete Asante, published by Lexington Books in 2023.
Kodena describes his work as a corrective Pan-Afrikan blueprint rooted in life, nature, joy, love, community, family, art, beauty, creativity, and cooperative freedom. His thought draws from the ancestral and intellectual traditions of Jérôme Ngoa, Augustine Ngono, Imhotep, Cheikh Anta Diop, Engelbert Mveng, Jean-Marc Ela, Molefi Kete Asante, and others.
He is also a Catholic priest and has served, studied, and traveled across Afrika, Europe, and North America.
